My goal is to leave nature in its brilliance while transforming it into pure, unique and striking creations

I create sustainable designs that highlight the natural character of the tree, combining craftsmanship and creativity to deliver unique, organic pieces.

My name is Kyrian, but friends call me Kyri. Every design is a part of me expressed in nature.

Sustainable wood from Amsterdam

I work with wood sourced from in and around Amsterdam. These trees are only cut when they’re diseased or need to make space for new growth. Instead of being shredded, the wood is given a second life — transformed into unique, handcrafted furniture.

Sawing the trunk

The first step in the process: saw the logs into planks. Each new cut reveals another natural masterpiece.

Drying the planks

The planks are neatly stacked so they can dry for 1-3 years, depending on the thickness of the wood.

Roots

From a young age, I always had a lot of wood around me, as my parents had a wood-burning stove and often refused to turn on the heating, so they burned several cubic metres of wood each winter.

All this wood had to be chopped and stacked under the shed and then, every evening, a basket was brought inside to throw into the stove. I never felt like doing this, but I always liked chopping wood, a bit of sport and somewhere it was soothing to chop such a large solid block into small pieces.

Later when I was 10, my father wanted to cut down a large chestnut tree at the back of the garden because it was diseased. This tree had been in the garden all my life and I used to climb it a lot with my brothers and sister. Therefore, my father wanted to give this beautiful tree a new function, namely as the head pillar for the upcoming living shed in the garden. I helped my father build this and still always enjoy looking at this shed and especially the centrepiece of this shed namely our beautiful play tree.

This created my interest in wood and the functions it can take on.

My parents feel very connected to nature and taught me a lot about trees and the magic around them which I also started to feel. Since my parents have always been very fond of flowers, trees, plants; in short nature, I also noticed the beauty of nature early on and started to respect it in my own way.

I like to combine this brilliance of nature with my passion: making special pieces of furniture, in which the tree comes forward as purely as possible.
